The Israeli military intercepted two Gaza rockets over southern Israel on Monday afternoon, as truce talks between Israel and the Palestinians collapses.
The rockets were fired at Netivot, a small town in Israel's south, and caused no damages or injuries, a military notice said.
A few hours earlier, a 24-hour ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the Islamist movement who dominates Gaza, was breached as two rockets from Gaza hit southern Israel. No injuries or damages were reported.
Israel responded by launching air strikes at "terror sites" across the Gaza Strip, a military spokesperson said.
Israel and Hamas agreed on Monday night to extend the previous five-day cease-fire, in the hopes of reaching an initial, limited agreement to end the offensive, which started on July 8, permanently, during their indirect negotiations held in Cairo.
However, following the fire, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon ordered to Israeli delegation to return home, local media reproted.
Several temporary truces have been held over the past two weeks, some of which were breached, that were repeatedly extended, as both sides discuss their demands in order to achieve a deal that would end the offensive, which started on July 8 and claimed the lives of 2000 Palestinians and 67 Israelis.
Also on Tuesday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said it was going to send more aids to the war-torn Gaza. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, head of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) said on Tuesday that more supplies worth 3.25 million U.S. dollars had been shipped to Gaza in recent days with more aid in the pipeline.
According to Al-Nahyan, the ERC has already sent five relief missions to Gaza during the past few weeks to provide food, medicine and other supplies to those who have been displaced and injured during the conflict. The ERC established a field hospital as well.
The organization's mission in Gaza is expected to receive the latest shipment of medical supplies via Egypt, under the supervision of the UAE embassy in Cairo.
Earlier last month, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid launched the initiative "Salma, named after the first Emirati woman nurse, in order to help victims of war in Gaza.
