Investments in advertising sector hit EGP 5bn

Head of advertising sector at the Federation of Egyptian Industries Ashraf Khairy underlined the importance of advertising industry and its role in luring foreign investments.

The investments in advertising industry hit 5 billion pounds annually, he noted during a press conference held on Wednesday.

The total number of employees in the advertising sector reaches more than 200,000, he added.

The state coffers obtain about 70 % of the total revenues of companies, he said.

The advertising companies are facing difficult circumstances after the January 25 Revolution, he went on to say.

The advertising sector contributed to boosting economy and Egyptian investment either in confronting terrorism through the campaign of "No to terrorism" and in supporting the constitution through the campaign of "Yes to Constitution," he said.

He, meanwhile, said that the sector also supported the campaign of the New Suez Canal, which was the biggest advertising campaign in the Middle East.
