
Irbid governorate's exports reached $45.7million, reflecting a 12 percent increase compared to the same period of last month.
Al Hassan Industrial Zone exports were worth around $40million, accounting for 86 percent, while the CyberCity's share stood at $5.5million, or 12 percent of the total exports.
Leather and Garments sector ranked first with $39.5 million, representing 86.3 share of total exports, followed by therapeutic industries and medical supplies sector which accounted for $1.2 million, or 6.4 per cent. Ration industries sector came third with $1.3million worth of exports, an increase of 2.8 percent.
The Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, Hani Abu Hassan, said the Chamber's exports report showed that the U.S. market received the lion's share of the total exports, $35.8million, while the Iraqi and the Saudi Arabian markets accounted for the majority of exports to Arabian markets with $3.5 million.
Abu Hassan said the industry sector faced hurdles such as lack of areas to attract new investments and said there was a need to find a new industrial map for Irbid Governorate.
