Job opportunities created by the economy reach 54,000 in Jordan

The Department of Statistics said on Wednesday that the total number of jobs created by the Jordanian economy in 2013 stood at 54,000.
The department added in the newly created jobs survey that jobs created for males numbered 35,000 out of 54,000 for both genders.
The survey results showed that 41,000 job opportunities were created by the private sector, where 21 percent of the jobs were introduced by the public sector.
Amman's residents had the highest ratio of the jobs, while Ma'an city had the lowest job opportunities.
Tafilah city residents could avail of 14 jobs per 1,000 of its population, while for every 1,000 of Zarqa'a population, five jobs were created.
Amman, Zarqa and Irbid governorates could claim 77 percent of the new jobs. Also, the newly created jobs targeted people in the age group of 15-39.
