The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation plans to distribute 2,000 food baskets to 2, 000 Somali families in Hargeisa and its surroundings.
The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to assist the people of Somalia.
The aid package includes flour, rice, sugar and cooking oil.
An official source at the Foundation said the team will distribute the food baskets to those facing difficult humanitarian crisis caused by the drought, which affected their farms and destroyed thousands of livestock.
