Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khalid Suleiman Al-Jarallah on Monday said that Kuwait has fully completed preparations for the third donors conference for Syria, it is hosting on March 31st.
The official's remarks came during his inauguration of a joint training course on human rights, organized by the ministry in cooperation with the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar on Monday.
Many countries will participate in the conference, said Al-Jarallah, hoping the event would see positive results and enough pledges to ease the suffering of Syrians.
The event, held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, will involve over 78 countries and over 40 international organizations.
The number of pledges in the first conference held in Kuwait in January 2013 totaled USD 1.5 billion, with Kuwait donating USD 300 million.
The second conference in 2014, collected USD 2.4 billion, with USD 500 million presented by Kuwait.
There are currently about 12.2 homeless, relocated and refugee Syrians inside and outside of Syria, living in severe conditions since the outbreak of the civil war on March 15, 2011.
