The cabinet held an extraordinary meeting at His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah's Diwan at Seif Palace on Thursday.
Emerging from the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said the cabinet had discussed the findings of an all-out study conducted by the World Bank on practical steps to push forward economic development and reform in Kuwait.
The cabinet listened to a presentation by WB representatives in this regard on problems and obstacles impeding economic reforms in the country, and practical suggestions to tackle them, the minister said.
The presentation also featured necessary moves to put in place an all-out economic reform program that aims to notch up the aspired goals in the fields of human development, economic reform, promotion of the private sector's partnership, development of the public sector's performance, especially amid the current regional economic and political circumstances, dwindling oil prices and growing tensions, he added.
The ministers thrashed out a suggested roadmap for this program, procedural aspects and executive tools for the proper implementation of this program and fulfillment of its national goals and guarantees for covering social safety networks, he said.
In this context, the cabinet stressed the necessity of taking practical and serious steps to implement the comprehensive reform process, voicing satisfaction with the WB's reform program, the cabinet minister pointed out.
The ministers highly acclaimed the positive partnership between the WB and Kuwait, hoping that there would be more bilateral cooperation, he concluded.
