Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that all unpaid traffic fines for expats leaving the country will be collected at the airports and border posts, starting Monday.
The police said that the decision includes all foreigners whether they are leaving the Sultanate for a period of time or forever, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The Royal Oman Police in January activated the collection system of unpaid traffic fines, but it was applied only to those who left the country forever.
A police source called upon all expats to pay all dues for their violations before they check in.
Expatriates make up around 44 per cent of the country's total population of four million people.
