HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani opened today morning at Ritz-Carlton hotel the Euromoney Qatar Conference entitled "Global Finance Re-Designed." The conference is organized by Qatar Central Bank in cooperation with the Euromoney Qatar Conference .
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, governors of central banks, Arab and foreign bankers in addition to experts from economic , regional and international institutions and bodies.
In his keynote speech at the conference , HE the Prime Minister said that Qatar hosted the Euromoney Qatar Conference for the third year as part of its support to such meetings that would deal with developments and changes in the global financial sector and discussing the best ways to achieve economic development.
His Excellency expressed hope that the recommendations of the conference come as much ambition and contribute to draw future plans and visions that would lead to strengthen the role of this sector in supporting the global economy and increase its growth. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior stressed that Qatar is working due to a strategy for sustainable development based on building a strong and well-developed and diversified economy, through the establishment of a modern infrastructure serving all sectors, reviewing features of this strategy, which stems from the Qatar National Vision 2030, where the economic side forms a core substrate, in regard to the implementation of the directives of HH the Eimr Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
Qatari citizen's development comes on top of the priorities and objectives of this vision and then the investment in education, health and projects associated with the transition to the knowledge economy bestow a special attention by the government , he added.
This trend clearly shows in the state's public budget for education and health sector in addition to the huge allocations for infrastructure projects and major development projects in addition to the projects associated the 2022 FIFA World Cup bid , he said.
HE Sheikh Abdullah said that the Qatar's economy is maintaining its growth and stability in addition to the government's continued efforts to diversify economic activity, no doubt provides great opportunities to increase private sector's participation in economic activity, where the government continued its initiatives to develop the business environment and expanding and diversifying the economy base.
HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani said that the State of Qatar continues to work on updating the legal framework, and noted a number of issued laws related to economic and financial sector such as the law for Qatar Central Bank.
HE the Prime Minister said that he issued directives to review all the systems that have an impact on the investment and business sector in Qatar, in order to improve them further. His Excellency noted that the government has also been working on supporting non-oil sectors by increasing the number of industrial areas and storage capacities, as well as supporting medium and small enterprises. His Excellency then highlighted today's launch of the Ras Bufontas Special Economic zone project for technology and logistics sectors as an example of the government's efforts.
HE the Prime Minister concluded that continued economic growth of Qatar will be linked to developments in the global economy. As a result, His Excellency added, Qatar remains keen on monitoring the global economic, something that adds more relevance to today's conference.
