President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed on Tuesday the activities and tasks of the Specialized Council for Economic Development, which is affiliated with the presidency.
During their meeting with the president, council members reviewed the new executive steps taken to run 1,000 factories in Cairo and remove all obstacles facing the start of work in these facilities.
The council members also reviewed several proposals to develop national industry and increase dependency on local products, especially in the food and quarry mining industries.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said that the president underlined, during the meeting, the state's keenness to develop the industry which is the locomotive for growth and national economy.
Sisi asserted that the new industrial zones should represent integrated development communities in which necessary infrastructure, services and houses would be available, in a way that contributes to creating urban communities that accommodate the population growth and ease the high rate of residence arround the narrow valley.
Sisi also stressed the importance of achieving integration among the planned industrial zones and a project to reclaim 1.5 million feddans.
