The volume of non-oil foreign trade of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi across the different customs points over the past year stood at AED 169. 11 billion, up by 11 per cent compared to 2014.

Mohammed Khadim Al-Hameli, Acting Director-General of the General Directorate of Customs in Abu Dhabi, said the directorate adopts a strategy to develop customs policies and raise the operational efficiency of customs at the level of Abu Dhabi in line with the pivotal role to support the national economy, and ensure the security and protection of society from unsound customs practices.

He added that all land, sea and air customs points of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi contributed to this rise in the foreign non-oil trade, thanks to the customs facilities and world class modern infrastructure as well as seasoned field customs cadres.

The value of imports through different customs points of the emirate during 2015 stood at over AED119.3 billion, up by 10.5 per cent compared to AED108.18 billion in 2014.

Regarding the imports at the customs points during 2015, the seaports accounted for AED72.37 billion or 60 percent of the total value of non-oil imports to the emirate. The airports' imports totalled about AED26.39 billion, accounting for 22 percent of the total imports, while the value of imports through the land ports stood at over AED20.9 billion, about 18 percent of the total imports.

The total non-oil exports through the different customs points in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 2015 touched AED30.83 billion, an increase of 63 percent compared to AED18.97 billion in 2014.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi seaports saw the export operations of non-oil goods touching worth AED8.86 billion, accounting for 29 percent of the total value of exports of the emirate in 2015.

The value of exports via airports touched AED14.26 billion, accounting for 46 percent, while the exports via land ports stood at AED7.7 billion, accounting for 25 percent of the total non-oil exports. The volume of re-export trade through the customs points in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi touched over AED18.9 billion during 2015, down by 25.30 per cent of its value in 2014, which then amounted to AED25.34 billion.

The value of re-exports trade through the air customs points touched AED14.5 billion, accounting for 77 percent of the total re-export value during 2015, while the value of re-exports through the seaports amounted to AED2.5 billion, representing 13 percent of the total value of re-exports for 2015.

The value of re-export trade through the land customs points stood at AED1.9 billion, constituting 10 percent of the total value of re-export trade.
