Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal laid the foundation stone of the Bahrah development center at Al-Bayda village on Wednesday.
Bahrah, a town located between Makkah and Jeddah, is part of the Makkah region’s sustainable development project.
Prince Khaled expressed his happiness over the commencement of the national development project, which is a turning point in the development of the region.
He said that it’s very important that the development project is built with the creativity and skills of the village youth, where they are part of the project management, playing the role of workers, builders, planners and implementers.
He also said that the center will create opportunities for work, skills training, leadership and implementation, which will be the first of its kind in the area and a milestone in the development of the region.
He said Al-Bayda village development plans were included in the regional development plan seven years ago on the basic rules of development of humanity and places for the people of the Kingdom. The implementation of strategic development plans at the same time in cities, provinces, villages and centers will have a great impact on the quality of life of people living in the region.
The governor pointed out that the cooperation of government agencies generated significant achievements in project objectives as the governorate of Jeddah is cooperating with the governorate of Makkah in the completion of this project.
Prince Khaled also signed a memorandum of cooperation between the governorate of Makkah and the Ministry of Housing. The projects being implemented in Bahrah include a power plant at a cost of SR754 million; a road connecting the city with the Old Jeddah-Makkah Road at a cost of SR807 million; and municipal projects worth a total of SR196 million.
