The Municipality of Ajman and Republic of Turkey’s Municipality of Central Edirne have come together to strengthen the basis of co-operation between the two countries and to bolster co-operation between the two cities in the fields of tourism, culture, social, environmental protection, trade and economy. An agreement was signed by Yahya Ibrahim Ahmed, Director General of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, and Nihan Akdere, Deputy Mayor of Edirne, with the presence of Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Muwajai, Chairman of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Elif Comoglu Ulgen, Consul General of Turkey in the UAE and Aylin Tekergolu, Chief de Cabinet, during the 8th Annual Businessmen Forum organised by Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The 8th Annual Businessmen Forum ‘Building the Future’ organised by Ajman Chamber came to a conclusion on Tuesday night. The forum was attended by Sheikh Ahmad Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the representative of the Ruler of Ajman for Financial and Administrative Affairs. The forum which, aims to create channels of communication and support partnerships between the public and private sectors in the United Arab Emirates saw heightened participation from government officials, Consuls and businessmen across the UAE. The Turkish officials were welcomed with an opening speech by Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Muwajai, Chairman of Ajman Chamber, who pointed out that the forum continues to be a compass in an ever-evolving business environment - requiring room for flexibility and innovation in services and practices. The event in turn supports the business community in the emirate of Ajman, striving to strengthen competition, while attracting investments, tourism, retail and trade. Together these factors increase investor confidence in the emirate, along with the UAE as a whole. He added: The aim is to continue to attract foreign investments, and in turn allow local companies to expand into global markets. He also drew attention to the importance of the role of this event in the creation of a favourable investment environment to induce more partnerships between the public and private sectors. Nihan Akdere, Deputy Mayor of Edirne, who heads the delegation of businessmen and investors from Turkey, emphasised on the deep historical ties between the UAE’s people and the Turkish people, and stressed on Edirne’s long history. Elif Comoglu Ulgen praised the distinguished relation between the UAE and Turkey. The Consul General also discussed the incentives offered by the Turkish government to investors, contributing in the growth of Turkish economy. From Gulf Today
