Albania's imported goods from Greece totaled 5.4 billion lek (43 million U.S. dollars) from January to May in 2015, almost unchanged year-on-year, as geographical proximity has made Greece the preferred partner of Albania in imports for food.
Albanian National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said on Monday that Greece is the second partner of Albania for goods, accounting for 15 percent of the total. In the first place remains Italy, which provided 19 percent of total food imports in the first five months, ahead of Serbia with 8 percent of the total.
According to "Monitor" magazine, representatives of the largest Greek importer say they have not encountered problems, while a suspension of banks work for a short period of time didn't pose a problem for them. Other companies do not feel so calm although at present companies have supplies and not having to carry out transactions with partners in Greece.
Greece is Albania's third import partner with 8.3 percent of the total, after Italy and China.
