
Participants in the Algerian-German economic conference in Hamburg (Germany) on 15 and 16 September called for the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries, Association for Euro-Arab-Mediterranean economic cooperation (EMA) said in a statement.
The Algerian side stressed at the conference which was attended by more than 200 officials, economic experts and businessmen, the need for increased investment in Algeria which has the human and material resources.
"We encourage Germans to increase their investment in our country especially as it moves towards the diversification of its economy," said the representative of the Algerian Industry and mines, Kheireddine Medjoubi, recalling the program to improve infrastructure and major projects to be implemented in the sectors of construction, industry, health, industry, trade and tourism, the same source added.
In an effort to encourage foreign investors, Algerian authorities have made the amendment of several customs laws and the tax system in most of the investments in the education sector and the development of scientific research to train a specialized and skilful workforce.
