
Preparations are underway for signing a twin-town agreement between Cairo and Shanghai and a memo of cooperation between the Egyptian Museum and Shanghai Museum, Egypt’s Consul here Khaled Youssef said.
Speaking to MENA correspondent in Beijing, Youssef noted the remarkable progress achieved in Egyptian-Chinese relations at the political and economic levels in the period between December 2014 and December 2015.
He said Abdel Fattah El Sisi visited China twice during which over 30 agreements were signed in different fields, including a comprehensive strategic partnership and a framework agreement for cooperation between the two governments.
The volume of trade between Egypt and China surpasses $11 billion at present, the Egyptian envoy said, expecting the figure to rise in the coming period.
He voiced hope for more growth to be achieved in relations between the two countries after an expected visit to Cairo by Chinese President Xi Jinping this month.
