
China's hosting of the APEC summit has given a new push for establishing a free trade zone in the Asia and Pacific region.
Despite differences and competitions between the member states of the bloc, its leaders showed a great desire to serve common economic interests.
They inked two new documents to promote integration and collaboration.
China's President, at a news conference following the summit, hailed a historic the agreement on the eyed free trade zone in the region.
Economists say the zone will, if accomplished, a world sample of economic cooperation.
It is expected to add $2.4 trillion to the world economy, according to the economists.
The summit discussed world challenges including the Ebola crisis where the leaders vowed commitment to combat the deadly epidemic.
The issue of terrorism figured high at the gathering during which US President Barack Obama called for more world efforts to counter international terror.
APEC was established in 1989.
