UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Friday met head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) Abdelrahman al-Attar, discussing with him the mechanisms of distributing humanitarian aid and the obstacles hindering this process.
In a statement to SANA, al-Attar said the meeting focused on the role of the SARC, how to procure aid in cooperation with the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and how this aid is distributed with the help of the Syrian government.
He also said that they discussed the obstacles that hinder the delivery of aid to unsafe areas, and that he asked de Mistura to assist in facilitating the delivery of aid to these areas.
