Supply and Internal Trade Minister Khaled Hanafi discussed with visiting Cypriot Agriculture and Environment Minister Nicos Kouyialis ways of increasing trade exchange.
The meeting tackled Egyptian exports to Cyprus, involving the products of the Holding Company for Food Industries, as a step towards export to other EU countries.
A statement by the Supply and Internal Trade Ministry on Friday said the Cypriot minister affirmed his country's keenness on enhancing cooperation with Egypt in the various political and economic fields, including the establishment of a strategic alliance for trade exchange and benefiting from Cyprus's experience in the field of fishing.
Cyprus is also keen on benefiting from Egypt's geographic position as a gate for Africa and the Gulf, the statement read.
