
Eurogroup meeting (the finance ministers of each eurozone nation) will hold a meeting in Brussels on Friday to discuss the request from Greece for a six-month loan extension.
"I can confirm that a letter has been sent by the Greek government to the President of the Eurogroup and also to (European Commission) President Juncker requesting an extension of the Master Financial Assistance Facility Agreement which is the legal term for describing comprehensively the current programme," chef European Commission spokesperson Margaritis Schinas told a news conference.
He said that Juncker held intense talks with the President of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloemand the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras yesterday and through the night and also this morning.
