
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani received here today the Director- General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) LI Yong, on the sidelines of the International Forum on Economy and Green Technologies .
They explored joint cooperation in various developmental fields and ways to upgrade it as well as supporting GCC efforts of promoting sustainable development, in cooperation with UN specialised organisations.
Dr. Al-Zayani expressed appreciation of UNIDO's tangible efforts to support the GCC so as to promote the industrial sector's contribution to the development march of GCC.
He lauded UNIDO's participation in organising three major forums in Bahrain pertaining to sustainable development and its efforts at developing the GCC developmental abilities.
Dr. Al-Zayani affirmed that GCC supports the organisation of such international forums which strengthen GCC efforts at sustainable development, pointing out that the GCC has achieved the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) years ago. He asserted that GCC vision aims to achieve safe, prosperous and sustainable environment for its people.
