Consumer prices in Germany rose just 0.2 percent in August compared with a year earlier, official data showed Friday.
The inflation rate for the month was therefore unchanged from July, when it also reached 0.2 percent, the federal statistics office Destatis said in a statement.
Energy prices in August fell 7.6 percent from a year ago, but those for food and services showed a slight growth.
Using the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) -- the yardstick used by the European Central Bank -- inflation in Germany rose by 0.1 percent year-on-year in August.
That was the same rate as last month and far below the ECB's annual inflation target of just below 2.0 percent.
