Germany's richest man, also the co-founder of German discount supermarket chain Aldi, Karl Albrecht, died last Wednesday in Essen at the age of 94, German media reported on Monday.
The burial of Karl Albrecht on Monday was presenting with only the most intimate family members, a spokesman for the city of Essen confirmed to the German media.
According to the report, the grave is just a few meters away from that of his brother Theo, who died four years ago.
Together with his brother Theo Albrecht, Karl Albrecht founded Aldi, one of the most successful corporations in the postwar period in Germany, from a grocery store of their mother in the German city of Essen.
As the online edition of German news magazine Focus said, in the 50 years up to now, more than 9,000 stores, which contributed revenue of more than 50 billion euros (about 67.5 billion U.S. dollars), appear around the world.
Therefore, the billionaire Albrechts led the rankings the richest Germans by a wide margin.
In March 2014, the business magazine Forbes accounted Karl Albrecht for the richest German with assets of 25 billion dollars. (1 euro = 1.35 U.S. dollars)
