GPIC's President Abdulrahman Jawahery
Manama - BNA

A delegation of representatives of Chinese companies working in the country’s oil and gas sector visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) during their recent trip to Bahrain
The delegation was greeted by GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the Company’s Management Team.
Dr. Jawahery praised the strong trade and economic relations between Bahrain and China and said the two countries should benefit from each other’s experience in the development of the energy sector
Dr. Jawahery said such visits would contribute further to create more investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector in the two countries. He said the visit also gives impetus to oil and gas companies to take part in events and conferences in both China and Bahrain.
Dr. Jawahery praised the historic friendship between Bahrain and China and said leaders of the two countries have maintained their growth and development through economic cooperation and exchange of visits.
He gave the Chinese delegation a brief introduction of the comprehensive nature the GPIC manufacturing process, its business operations and strategy as well as details of its exports of fertilizers and chemicals. The visitors were told about the high quality of the GPIC’s products and well as its adherence to international safety environmental standards.
The guests were also told about the state-of-the-art carbon dioxide recovery plant, the first of its kind in the Middle East, which contributes significantly to the reduction of harmful emissions that result from factory operations. The plant is a significant GPIC step in ensuring a clean and safe industry.
The Chinese delegation was taken around the GPIC complex, during which they went to the Learning Academy and Leadership Centre of eLearning. They were briefed on the training programmes and activities offered by the two centres as well as their contribution towards the continuous education process for not only the employees of the Company but also in providing practical training for students of universities and institutions in their graduate academic programmes.
Dr. Jawahery informed the delegates about the use of new technologies as a means of education and advanced training offered and stressed that such a training facility within the complex confirms the attention it pays to the training of its staff and impart them with the latest knowledge and expertise.
The visitors later toured the complex and saw the Charity Fish Farm, the Princess Sabeeka Aromatic Plants Garden, the Bird Sanctuary and the Medicinal Herbs and Plants Garden.
The visit of the Chinese delegation to Bahrain was part of efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations and between the two sides and increase investments in the oil and gas sectors. It comes in response to a recent by a Bahrain oil and gas representatives’ delegation to China during which members met top officials of the China National Administration of Energy as well as a large number of officials of major oil and gas companies.
A memorandum of understanding to organise such visits was signed when His Majesty King Hamad visited China in September last year.
