Hong Kong's jobless rate in the June to August period stood at 3.3 percent, same as that in May to July, its statistics department said here on Thursday.
Comparing the three months ended August with three months ended July, an increase in the unemployment rate was observed in the education sector while a decrease was mainly seen in the foundation and superstructure works of the construction sector.
Secretary for Labor and Welfare Matthew Cheung said Hong Kong's near-term economic outlook remains clouded by uncertainties on both the domestic and external fronts.
He said the trend of unemployment rate in the rest of this year will hinge on the overall economic situation, including the performance of tourism and consumption-related sectors down the road.
