Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tehran on Sunday for talks on boosting bilateral ties with Iran.
Invited officially by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Modi is accompanied by a high-ranking politico-economic delegation.
During his two-day stay in Tehran, Modi is scheduled to meet with a number of senior Iranian officials, including President Rouhani and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
The two sides are expected to ink a number of agreements on economy, trade, investment, transportation, ports developments, culture and science.
India said it is ready to invest in the development of Iran's southeastern port of Chabahar.
Chabahar is located in the Gulf of Oman on the border with Pakistan. India's move to develop Chabahar port, if implemented, would enable New Delhi to dodge Pakistan and establish a strategic connectivity to Afghanistan as well as Central Asia.
