Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang arrived in Athens for the start of a two-day official visit on Thursday, with hopes for boosting bilateral trade and investment with Greece.
China, which considers Greece a strategic entry point as it seeks to make investment inroads in the European Union, is expected to expand its presence at the country's main port at Piraeus, where Chinese company Cusco is already active.
Cusco has won a 35-year concession to expand two main container terminals at the port, dpa reported.
On Friday, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Li are scheduled to visit Cusco’s facilities in Piraeus, where it is aiming to acquire a 67-per-cent stake in the Piraeus Port Authority.
