The Japanese Government has decided to extend emergency grant aid of $1 million to Yemen through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which administers the Yemen National Dialogue and Constitutional Reform Trust Fund (YNDCRTF). The grant will appropriate for supporting the constitution-making process towards promotion of national reconciliation and stabilization of political situation in Yemen, according to a press release. "Political crisis in Yemen has been aggravated recently. There is a growing risk that the destabilizing situation will adversely affect the transitional process including constitutional referendum and forthcoming elections." In order to stabilize the political situation in Yemen, Japan has supported the transitional process through supporting electoral preparation and the National Dialogue Conference in Yemen, the Japanese Government said. "In particular, the grant aid will be allocated to public education as well as hearing public comment in advance of the constitutional referendum." Japan expected progress of the political transitional process in a fair and smooth manner and realization of Yemen's stability as early as possible. Since 2012, Japan's grant aid for humanitarian needs and political transitional process in Yemen reaches $119 million in total.
