First deputy president of Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Ghassan Khirfan, has called for enhancing trade between Jordan and Taiwan and to take advantage of Taiwan products quality.
Khirfan also called, during a meeting held on Wednesday with a delegation representing the Importers and Exporters Association of Taiwan, to set up joint committees for the private sector institutions to enhance trade cooperation between the two countries.
Jordanian exports to Taiwan amounted $20 million, compared to $362 million worth of imports in 2013, Khirfan said, stressing the need to address this imbalance.
Jordan produces many goods and services that can cater to the Taiwanese market, such as medicines, phosphate, potash fertilizers and Dead Sea salts as well as information technology.
Executive Director of Importers and Exporters Association of Taiwan, Shin Sung-Tah, stressed that the private sector in Taiwan seeks to develop economic relations with the Jordanian private sector and boost the trade exchanges between the two countries. The Association, established in 1947, seeks to promote trade ties with various world countries, including Jordan.
