
Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Monday, signed an agreement with UN Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator & Regional Director for Arab States at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Sima Bahouth, to establish a regional center for the UNDP in Amman.
Judeh said the center will provide Jordanians with the opportunity to contribute to the development projects in the region. He added that the decision to set up a UNDP regional headquarters in Jordan reflects recognition of the Kingdom's secure and stable climate in addition to having qualified human resources. Bahouth thanked Jordan for facilitating the establishment of a regional headquarters for the UNDP, saying it will be a center for excellence in the development network in the Arab region.
The deal was inked on the sidelines of the 69th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.
