Kuwait vows to donate USD six million to the UN agencies, programs as part of its commitment to the international organization, said a Kuwaiti diplomat here Wednesday.
Permanent delegate to the UN and International Organizations in Geneva Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim said that Kuwait will contribute around USD one million to the UN High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR) to help its efforts in aiding 43 million forcibly displaced or stateless people worldwide in 2015.
Kuwait had delivered USD 210 million in the previous two years to help millions of Syrian refugees, said Al-Ghunaim that 1.5 million refugees had benefited from the support thus far.
He stressed that Kuwait, under the order of its leadership, will continue to support the UNHCR's mission in 2015, noting that such action reflected Kuwait's commitment towards the international community.
