
Malaysian Minister of Agriculture Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob said recently that the export volume of bird's nest, or cubilose, has exceeded 120 tons in the first 10 months of 2014.
The minister said the cubilose industry is one of the focuses Malaysia has in its economic transformation plan. In the first ten months of 2014, the total value of cubilose exports reached 110 million ringgit (about 32.12 million U.S. dollars). The annual export volume is expected to reach 150 tons.
By 2020, the total export of the country's bird's nest will reach 870 tons.
Quality problems have hindered Malaysia’s bird's nest export to China since July 2011, but active consultation has been carried out with the Chinese government, he said.
According to the minister, eight nests processing enterprises have now been recognized by the Chinese government.
