
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held Thursday a number of meetings with world leaders and heads of international organizations and companies in Davios, said the presidential spokesman.
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which kicked off Wednesday, Sisi held a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, in which they discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties, Alaa Youssef said.
The president also met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel who assured Sisi of her country's support for the Egyptian process of political and economic reform, the spokesman added.
Sisi briefed Merkel on the latest developments in Egypt, the spokesman noted.
The German leader lauded a speech delivered by President Sisi in Al-Azhar on the necessity of correcting the religious discourse and misconceptions as well as combating extremism.
The spokesman asserted that the two leaders exchanged visits invitations.
The president also met with President of the Swiss Confederation Simonetta Sommaruga, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde and Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Angel Gurría, Youssef said.
