
The Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold its first investment forum on a program of action for cooperation with Central Asia in the Tajik capital city of Dushanbe on Oct. 27-28, the Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.
The forum is intended to monbilize and promote intra-OIC and international support for implementing the OIC program of action for cooperation with Central Asia, with the focus on agro-industrial development, transport sector development, trade promotion and poverty alleviation.
The forum is expected to gather representatives from OIC member states, investment promotion agencies of Central Asia, multilateral funding agencies, development cooperation institutions, the private sector and investors.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, OIC Secretary-General Iyad bin Ameen Madani, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) President Ahmad Muhammed Ali are also expected to participate in the two-day event.
Founded in 1969, the OIC is the second largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations, with 57 member states in four continents.
