The UAE has ratified the Trade Facilitation Agreement, concluded by the World Trade Organisation members at the Bali Ministerial Conference in 2013, and will accordingly notify the WTO.
In the UAE's statement at the WTO's 10th Ministerial Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, said the UAE, as a member of the WTO and the international community has a strong belief in, and attaches great importance to the multi-lateral trade system, established on clear principles.
The UAE, he noted, is committed to contributing constructively and substantially to the success of the system and the conditions of multilateral trade and the Doha Development Agenda.
Minister Al Mansouri also noted that the Arab group of counties at the WTO agreed that all Arab members and observers are committed to the multilateral trade system.
He stressed that the UAE fully supports the group's statement which simplifies and facilitates the process of accession of countries to the WTO based on fair conditions.
Al Mansouri also urged members of the WTO to consider Palestine's application for a seat as an observer in the organisation.
