Ukraine's industrial output dipped 12.1 percent in July year-on-year due to the unrest in eastern regions, the country's industrial heartland, the State Statistics Service said on Monday.
Ukraine's mining industry saw a yearly decline of 12.5 percent, processing industry shrank by 12.7 percent, while the electric power, gas and water industry decreased by 7.8 percent, the statistics committee said in a report.
The downward trend was attributed to the ongoing clashes between government troops and independence-seeking insurgents in the eastern Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which represent a third of Ukraine's industrial output.
In July, industrial production in the Donetsk region was down 28.5 percent from a year earlier, while output in the Lugansk region plunged 56 percent, the State Statistics Service said.
From January through July, Ukraine's industrial production saw a yearly decline of 5.8 percent, it said.
In 2013, Ukraine's industrial output fell 4.7 percent.
