US consumer confidence jumps to pre-crisis peak

A long-running index of US consumer confidence showed sentiment soaring to a pre-crisis high in January, according to a survey issued Tuesday by a business think tank.
The New York-based Conference Board's consumer confidence index leapt in January to 102.9, after rising in December to 93.1. The index is based on a 1985 level of 100, dpa reported.
