The Australian dollar briefly slipped below 77 U.S. cents in overnight on Thursday to recrod a six week low.
It was due to the U.S. greenback dollar's continued climb against the world's largest currencies.
The Australian dollar recovered a little and was trading at 77. 29 U.S. cents on Thursday, but still down from 77.61 U.S. cents on Wednesday.
Driving the losses was a resurgent U.S. dollar, which has been running higher this week as investors bet on imminent action from the U.S. Federal Reserve as recent economic data show signs of improvement.
