
Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.57% to finish at 2,239.47 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 8,045.86 points on Monday, up 63.79 points, or 0.8%. A Share Index: 9,317.21 points, up 73.87 points, or 0.8 percent; B Share Index: 6,234.37 points, down 0.59 point, or 0.01 percent; Total turnover US $ 29.84 Billion or 183.58 Billion yuan.
China’s stock index futures also closed higher with the contract for September, the most actively traded, closing 0.19% higher at 2,376.2 points.
The October contract gained 0.46% to end at 2,382.4 points. The December contract rose 0.19% to end at 2,392.2 points. The March 2015 contract closed 0.19% higher at 2,407 points.
The stock-index contracts, agreements to buy or sell the Hushen 300 Index at a preset value on an agreed date, are designed to allow investors to bet on and profit from either gains or declines in the market.
