Overall consumer price index (CPI) decreased during February 0.47% compared with January, a press release by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said Thursday. CPI decreased by 0.76% in the West Bank, by 0.51% in East Jerusalem and by 0.41% in Gaza Strip. When compared to February of last year, CPI for this February had increased by 1.76%. Considered by territory, it increased by 2.75% in the West Bank, 1.77% in Jerusalem and 0.27% in Gaza Strip. The change in CPI for February is traced to changes in prices of fresh vegetables, which decreased by 9.54%, potatoes and other tubers, dropped by 9.08% and sugar, which also decreased by 3.41%. However, prices of eggs increased by 15.04%, along with gas by 7.30%, fuel for transportation by 2.66% and fresh poultry by 2.29%.
