Elpida shares close down 97.24%

Shares in Japan\'s Elpida Memory plunged 97.24 percent on Wednesday after the Tokyo Stock Exchange removed trading restrictions following the microchip maker\'s bankruptcy filing. Elpida, one of the world\'s biggest chip makers, announced the largest corporate failure in Japanese manufacturing history on Monday. It closed at seven yen Wednesday, down 247 yen from the previous day.
