
The French stock market benchmark index CAC 40 experienced a decrease of 0.92 percent to close at 4,194.03 points on Monday, down 39.06 points.
The CAC 40 is affected by the weaker-than-expected Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) of China and Europe, and by the U.S. market which is hesitating before the midterm elections. China published, over the weekend, its October PMI which stood at 50.8, compared with the 51.1 in September, while Europe sees a higher PMI than its 50.3 from September. By the end of the trading day, 30 of the 40 selected companies decreased.
The top three gainers are Alcatel-Lucent, up 3.76 percent, Accor, up 2.40 percent, and Alstom, up 1.19 percent.
The three companies lost most today are GDF Suez, down 3.02 percent, EDF, down 2.84 percent, and Lafarge, down 3.0 percent.
In the previous trading day, the CAC 40 gained an advance of 2.22 percent, or 91.85 points, to close at 4,233.09 points.
