Grain futures prices were mixed Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Corn was off 1 3/4 to up 3 3/4, soybeans were up 1 1/2 to up 3 1/4, wheat was off 20 1/2 to off 23 3/4 and oats were off 4 1/2 to off 10 3/4. Corn saw up and down trading Tuesday with corrective short-covering lending support. Wheat moved higher in Minneapolis, Kansas City and Chicago, supported by short-covering that signaled drops in the past two sessions had gone too far. Soybeans closed modestly higher with a late rally erasing early losses Tuesday. The prices: Corn: May 6.40 1/2 off 1 3/4, Jly 6.27 1/4 up 1/2, Sep 5.54 3/4 up 3 3/4, Dec 5.36 1/2 up 1. Soybeans: May 13.94 up 3 1/4, Jly 13.74 1/2 up 2 1/4, Aug 13.42 up 3, Sep 12.85 up 1 1/2. Wheat: May 6.70 3/4 up 6 3/4, Jly 6.77 1/4 up 8 1/4, Sep 6.88 up 9 3/4, Dec. 7.03 3/4 up 11. Oats: May 3.67 1/2 off 8 3/4, Jly 3.63 off 8 1/4, Sep 3.47 1/2 off 10 3/4, Dec 3.41 1/4 off 4 1/2.
