Italian stocks jump 3% on EU bank plan

Italian stocks jumped more than three percent on Wednesday in line with other European markets following reports of plans to help European banks recapitalise to help contain the eurozone debt crisis. The benchmark FTSE Mib index in Milan was up 3.39 percent just before 1500 GMT, in a rally led by Italian auto giant Fiat which rose 7.42 percent to 3.938 euros a share and tyre maker Pirelli which gained 6.37 percent to 5.225 euros.
