
Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average surged 4.8 per cent Friday after the Bank of Japan decided additional monetary easing measures to stimulate the economy.
According to dpa, the Nikkei gained 755.56 points, or 4.82 per cent, to end at 16,413.76, the highest in seven years.
The broader-based Topix index was up 54.74 points, or 4.28 per cent, at 1333.64.
The central bank said it would increase monetary base at an annual pace of about 80 trillion yen (730 billion dollars), up from 60 trillion to 70 trillion yen.
For the week, the Nikkei rose 7.34 per cent and the Topix was up 7.35 per cent.
For the month, the Nikkei added 1.49 per cent and the Topix climbed 0.55 per cent.
On currency markets at 3 pm (0600 GMT) on Friday, the dollar traded at 111.88-89 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 109.17-19 yen.
The euro was quoted at 139.34-35 yen, up from 137.44-48 yen late Thursday.
