The base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) closed higher mostly on Wednesday.

The U.S. dollar index decreased 0.20 percent to 96.84 later in Wednesday's session, lifting most base metals prices.

Chile's state-owned miner Codelco said on Tuesday that a fire affected part of the installations at its massive Chuquicamata mine, but the company was implementing a contingency plan to maintain production levels.

The three-month unofficial copper price dropped 26 U.S. dollars, or 0.52 percent, to 5,000 U.S. dollars per tonne.

The three-month unofficial aluminium price maintained at 1,559 U.S. dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial lead price increased 10 U.S. dollars, or 0.59 percent, to 1,709 U.S. dollars a tonne.

Besides, the three-month unofficial zinc price increased 11 U.S. dollars, or 0.62 percent, to 1,788 U.S. dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial nickel price increased 25 U.S. dollars, or 0.24 percent, to 10,412.5 U.S. dollars a tonne.

The three-month unofficial tin price increased 50 U.S. dollars, or 0.33 percent, to 15,412.5 U.S. dollars a tonne.
