Nikkei closed 0.18 percent lower Tuesday, weighed down by the yen\'s gains against other major currencies. The 225-issue average lost 15.39 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at a four-week low of 8,661.05. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.02 point at 722.56. Decliners included consumer finance firms, sea transport companies and pharmaceutical makers. Gainers included oil distributors, utilities and paper makers. The turnover was about 848.6 billion yen (about 10.67 billion U. S.dollars).
