South Korean stocks traded higher late Wednesday morning as bank and securities shares surged on hopes that a new pension plan could lure more money into local equity markets.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 9.51 points, or 0.46 percent, to 2,077.56 as of 11:20 a.m.
