The Spanish annual inflation rate stood at 0.2 percent in May, according to data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The figure meant a 0.2 percent fall compared with the annual inflation rate of April, which stood at 0.4 percent.
According to the INE, this variation was due to lower prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks whose prices had increased in May 2013.
The INE also reported that on a month-to-month basis Spain's prices registered no variation.
The INE will confirm this data on June 13 when it will provide more information about the evolution of prices.
