
Tokyo shares ended Monday's morning session sharply higher with Nikkei hitting a two-month intraday high, on strong Chinese and Japanese economic data.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 262.42 points, or 1. 79 percent, from Friday to 14,894.80 after briefly rising to 14, 906.76, its highest intraday level since April 4.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 15.82 points, or 1.32 percent, to 1, 217.23.
Gainers were led by real estate, nonferrous metal and precision machinery issues.
